Camp Hintok is located on a bend in the Khwae Noi River not far from the Hellfire Pass Memorial. The camp was constructed for prisoners working on the railway under appalling conditions . The prisoners would be marched up to the construction site by torchlight in the mornings, then marched back after dark consuming up to 18 hours per day.
Today the site still functions as a campsite but with permanent tents with all conveniences including air-conditioning suitable for visiting dignitaries and others having association with the events here during the war. The site is a memorial in its own rite and has a small museum dedicated to the functioning of the camp during the war.
