Ban Chulabhorn Patana 12 is a Muslim community in Sukhirin District. It was once in a war zone between Thai and Malay Governments and the Malay Communists supported by Russia and China, the latter active here since the 1930's. After a tripartite agreement was signed in 1989 the area became a development zone and the Chulabhorn Patana 12 Museum was established by local residents to bring together artifacts from the time and to record the events during those troubled times.
