the courthouse started construction in 1917 as a single-story building built in masonry brick. The beams ceiling and roof frames are all made of hardwood and there is a clay tiled roof. The opening ceremony of the courthouse was on April 1st 1918. In 1940 Thailand had a dispute with French Indochina and the courthouse was hit by cartridges and bombs causing more than 40 wall cracks. After that it was repaired and used as the office of the Nakhon Phanom provincial court which converted the basement into a jail used until March 3rd 1963. The building is now well over 100 years old.
