Located on Phaya Phu Rd, west of the main police station, this Wat Phaya Phu was built during the reign of Pra Chao Phukheng in the 15th century. It houses the largest principal Buddha statue in the province called ‘Phra Puttapatima’ and two beautiful walking Buddha images which are contemporary to the period. Another notable feature here are the carved doors on the front of the sermon hall (vihara), which are elaborately carved with mythical images of guardians known as 'yama tut'.
