Si Nan National Park, located in southeastern Nan Province covers an area of approximately 934 square kilometres in Wiang Sa, Na Noi and Na Muen districts. The principal road though the park is Highway 1083. The undulating mountain ranges line up from the north to the south creating a natural barrier while the principal water course is the Nan River. Along the riverbanks are mixed deciduous and deciduous dipterocarp forests. Within the compound of the ranges, there are evergreen hill forest, dried evergreen forest and pine forest. Rare animals can be found including leopards, panthers, bears, deer, wolves and Asiatic wild dogs while wild elephants, bantengs, and gaurs, which usually migrate in and out the frontier between Thailand and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic also can be seen.The main attraction in the park lies near the park office. Pha Chu’s Foot is a mountain with a cliff face. From the summit during winter can be seen the talay mog (sea of mist). When it clears in the morning the glorious Nan River can be seen. A magnificent sunrise can also be viewed from the cliff top.
