Petchabun’s historic and folk museums, known as Petchabura Historical Hall and Hall of Wisdom and Folkways are located in Petchabura Park south of Petch Charoen Road in the city. The historical museum is small but on two stories it offers a surprising collection of items from pre-history up to the 20th century. Items that were in everyday use in homes and offices are included as well as an interesting collection of weapons. In the folk museum the rooms concentrate on ethnological data and lifestyle. Here one can learn about the tribes and other minority groups that reside within the province. A good deal of space is allocated to promoting Petchabun’s role in agriculture with emphasis on the regions' fertility in producing rice, maize, tamarind and tobacco. For example a small room shows how tobacco is dried for processing. In another area there is a virtual forest with ample detail explaining the bond between people and their natural surrounding over time. Entry to the museums is free.
