The Thai Lue Village, located in Ban Nong Bua, is reached from the town of Tha Wang Pha about 40km north of Nan city on highway no. 101. From the town across the Nan River to the west the village can be found after another 3km. The Thai Lue people, originally from Southern China, are noted for producing traditional tribal fabric, an art handed down from generation to generation. While the designs have been improved, they still retain the original patterns known as ‘Nam Lai.’ These native woven materials have now become highly popular among tourists. Adjacent to Wat Nong Bua is an example of a traditional Thai Lue home complete with everyday equipment while local people sell their woven products in many forms for personal use. The centre is open from 8am-4pm.
