The Thung Chang Sacrificial Monument is located on highway 101 north of Nan at the 84km marker. The monument and military museum were constructed to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives to protect Thailand from communist insurgents. Their Majesties the King and the Queen conducted the opening ceremony on 10 February, 1976. Therefore on this day of every year a remembrance day for this monument and museum takes place when a merit making ceremony dedicated to those who lost their lives for the cause is conducted. At the Thung Chang Military Museum there are weapons and other items on display together with printed and photographic material and murals supporting further interest and study about the history of the conflict.
Opening hours are 8am to 4pm.
