Wat Khao Khun, Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphanburi Province

Wat Khao Khun was the former residence of the monk Phra Achan Thammachot, who played a key role in the ancient war against Burmese troops. There are a number of significant features in this temple. The temple’s image hall houses the Lord Buddha’s footprint and adjacent is a pagoda made from a pile of stone slabs while the Phra is commemorated in a separate building. A particularly intriguing feature of this temple is at the back of the image hall. There is an opening, which during the time of Phra Achan Thammachot, gave access to the rice paddies at the back of the temple; a sort of escape route. It is said that the Phra used this rock tunnel to hide from the Burmese Army.
