Royal Residential Hall of Pakpanang or Southern Royal Palace, located in Hulong Subdistrict, Pak Phanang District, is the first and only royal residence in the country established with the cooperation of the Thai people for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej for their loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty for his kindness towards the Pakpanang people. To address the problem of environment degradation such as floods, lack of fresh water, acidic soils, saltwater in agricultural lands and low yields, the King had invested heavily in water management schemes such as can be seen in the nearby Uthokwipat Prasit Watergate. This helped alleviate the hardships for local people.
